Luth Tied for First at Wildcat Invitational as Vikings in Fourth Place

MALVERN, Pa. - Patrick Luth shot a three-under-par 68 and is tied for first place after the opening round of the Wildcat Invitational that was played on Monday at the par-71, 7,055-yard White Manor C.C.

As a team, the Vikings shot 288 and are in fourth place in the 19 team field. CSU is the defending team champion at the event.

Delaware is in the lead after a first round 284, while host Villanova is in second place one shot back at 285. Lehigh is third at 286 with CSU in fourth place (288) and Fordham fifth at 289. The top-10 teams are separated by just 11 shots.

Luth made his first birdie of the day on the par-3, 255-yard third hole and followed it with another birdie on the fourth hole. He added a birdie on the seventh hole to card a three-under-par 32 on the outward nine. He made a pair of birdies and two bogeys on the back nine for an even-par 36 coming in.

Luth is tied with Thomas Fricke of Navy with the clubhouse lead, one shot ahead of a trio of players. Luth's five birdies were tied for the most by any player in the field today.

Junior Blake Prince and sophomore Anton Krecic both shot rounds of 73 and are tied for 21st, while sophomore Nick Infanti shot 74 and is tied for 39th.

Krecic made 15 pars today, the third most by any player.

As a team, the Vikings topped the field in par-three scoring average (3.10), while CSU's 13 birdies were third most today.

The final round of the event will be played on Tuesday.
