Vikings Shoot One-Under-Par to Take Lead at Horizon League Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Cleveland State carded a one-under-par 287 and moved into first place after two rounds of the Horizon League Championship.

The tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,816-yard Mission Inn Resort.

The Vikings entered round two four shots behind Oakland, but used a three-under-par 69 from Blake Prince, one-under-par rounds from Joey Krecic and Patrick Luth and a 76 by Mitchell Moore to move past the Golden Grizzlies and into first place.

The four combined to play the back nine in seven-under-par today.

CSU is at 582 after 36 holes, seven shots ahead of Oakland (589), while Wright State is in third place at 602. Youngstown State is fourth at 611 and is followed by Valparaiso (613), Detroit (616), Northern Kentucky (619) and Green Bay (632).

After an opening round 77 yesterday, Prince used a strong back nine, making an eagle on the par-five 10th hole and birdies on 12, 16 and 18 to shoot five-under-par 32 on the inward nine. He is tied for sixth place overall at 146 (77-69).

Joey Krecic fired his second straight one-under-par 71 and is tied for second place at 142. Krecic made four birdies today and his nine birdies in the tournament are tied for the second most.

Patrick Luth is in fifth place overall, shooting a one-under-par 71 today after a first round 74 for a 36 hole total of 142. Paul Minko is tied for 18th place at 154 (73-81), while Mitchell Moore is in 29th place at 159 (83-76).

Oakland's Jake Kneen holds the 36-hole lead at 141 (73-68), holding a one shot lead over Krecic and Ryan Wenzler of Wright State.

The final round of the League championship will be played on Sunday with the first tee time at 7:30 am. CSU will play in the final grouping with Oakland and Wright State.
