Men's Golf Travels to Earl Yestingsmeier Memorial Invitational

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team plays its final tournament ahead of the Horizon League Championship when the Vikings compete at the Earl Yestingsmeier Memorial Invitational on Friday and Saturday (April 15-16).

The 54-hole tournament will feature a unique format with six players from each school and the best five scores being counted per round. The tournament is being held at the par-70, 6,438-yard Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Indiana.

In addition to CSU and host Ball State, the field includes Butler, Dayton, IPFW, IUPUI, Loyola (Chicago), Oakland, Ohio, Valparaiso and Wright State,

The tournament kicks off on Friday, April 15th with 36 holes and a shotgun start at 9:00 am and continues on Saturday, April 16th with tee times at 8:00 am off No. 1 and 8:30 am on the No. 10 tee. 

The Vikings are coming off of a second place finish at the Wright State Invitational that was played at the Miami Valley GC on April 4-5 in Dayton. Three CSU players finished in the top-seven, including sophomore Joey Krecic, who claimed medalist honors.

Krecic shot a final round one-under-par 70, finishing with a 54-hole total of 213 (72-71-70) to win his second title of the season. Krecic, who was named the Horizon League Player of the Week for his performance, has 10 rounds of par or better this year and four top-five finishes in nine events.

Mitchell Moore and Patrick Luth rounded out the top three Viking golfers. Moore finished in sixth place at 219 (74-76-69), while Luth tied for seventh place at 220 (73-77-70).

The Vikings shot a final round even-par 284 to earn second place, marking the third straight tournament that CSU finished in the top-two. That run includes a tournament title at the Villanova Wildcat Invitational. Overall, the Vikings have four top-two finishes this year.

Krecic leads a balanced CSU lineup, averaging 73.0 per round and has four top-five finishes in nine events this year. Blake Prince has a 74.0 scoring average, while Luth is averaging 75.0. Paul Minko and Moore round out CSU's top-five with 75.2 scoring averages. 

Anton Krecic is averaging 76.4 this year and will round out CSU's lineup this weekend.

This will be the final event of the regular season for CSU with the Vikings returning to action at the Horizon League Championship from April 22-24 in Florida. CSU is the two-time defending League champion.
