Krecic Wins Wright State Invitational as Vikings Finish as Runner-Up

DAYTON, Ohio - Cleveland State sophomore Joey Krecic won the Wright State Invitational and the Vikings shot a final round even-par 284 to finish as the runner up of the event that concluded on Tuesday.

Krecic was one of three CSU players to finish in the top-seven, helping the Vikings to their third straight top two finish at a tournament. CSU was second at the Davidson Invitational (Feb. 29-March 1) and won the Villanova Wildcat Invitational (March 28-29) in its previous two tournaments.

It is the fourth top-two finish for the Vikings this year as CSU was the runner-up at the season opening Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate in September.

Krecic shot a final round one-under-par 70, finishing with a 54-hole total of 213 (72-71-70) to claim medalist honors by one shot. It marks his second title of the year after he also won the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate in September.

He is the first Vikings to win multiple tournaments in the same season since Andrew Bailey won three times in 2013-14. Bailey captured the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate, the UD Flyer Invitational and the Horizon League Championship that year.

Krecic now has 10 rounds of par or better this year and four top-five finishes in his nine events.

Mitchell Moore carded a final round two-under-par 69, tied for the lowest round of the day, and finished in sixth place at 219 (74-76-69), while Patrick Luth tied for seventh place at 220 (73-77-70).

Blake Prince tied for 25th place after rounds of 78-77-76 (31), while Paul Minko tied for 29th place at 232 (8--77-75).

The Vikings close the regular season at the Earl Yestingmeyer Invitational on April 15-16, leading up to the Horizon League Championship in Florida from April 22-24 when CSU is the two-time defending champs.
