Vikings in 8th Place After Opening Round of Wildcat Invitational

MALVERN, Pa. - Cleveland State shot an opening round 302 and is tied for eighth place out of 21 teams at the Villanova Wildcat Invitational that began on Monday at the par-71, 7,055-yard White Manor CC. 

The Vikings are just four shots behind Delaware, LaSalle and Bucknell who are tied for third place at 298. Wagner leads the tournament after a first round 289.

Host Villanova and Binghamton are tied for fifth place at 299, while St. John's is in seventh place, one shot ahead of CSU.

Blake Prince led the Vikings with a first round 72, including an even-par 35 on the front nine. Prince is just three shots behind Binghamton's Kyle Wambold who shot a 69 today and leads the tournament.

Joey Krecic also shot an even par 35 on the outward nine en route to a 73 today and is tied for 12th place

Paul Minko shot a first round 78, while Mitchell Moore had a 79 and Patrick Luth shot 83.

The final round of the Wildcat Invitational will be played on Tuesday (March 29) with teams teeing off with tee times. The Vikings will be in the third to last threesome, teeing off between 11:30 am and 12:10 pm. CSU will play with Fordham and St. John's.
