Vikings Return to Action at Wildcat Invitational

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team returns to action on Monday and Tuesday (March 28-29) when the Vikings compete at the Wildcat Invitational.

The 36-hole event will be played at the par-71, 7,055-yard White Manor CC in Malvern, Pa.

In addition to CSU and host Villanova, the field includes Binghamton, Bucknell, Lehigh, Wagner, St. John's, Delaware, Colgate, Fordham, Monmouth, Lafayette, LaSalle, Manhattan, Siena, Detroit, LeMoyne, St. Peter's, St. Bonaventure, Iona and Rider.

All teams will tee off on the first tee on Monday with the five CSU golfers starting between 12:10 pm and 12:50 pm. The Vikings will play with Manhattan and Siena on the first day.

This will be CSU's third event of the spring, but its first since placing second at the Davidson Invitational on Feb. 29-March 1.

The Vikings had three players finish in the top-12 at Davidson, including Joey Krecic who rebounded from an opening round 80 to finish third overall with a 54-hole total of 224. Krecic finished the tournament with rounds of 71-73.

Blake Prince finished eighth at the event, shooting 73-77-77 (227), while Paul Minko tied for 12th place with rounds of 77-76-77 (230).

Krecic leads the team with a 72.9 scoring average with eight of his 19 rounds posted being par or better. He has three top-five finishes and his scoring average is almost three shots better than last year when he averaged 75.6 as a freshman.

Prince, who is the only player in this year's lineup that didn't compete at last year's Horizon League Championship, ranks second on the team with a 73.7 scoring average. He has four top-20 finishes in seven events with six rounds of par or better.

Minko (74.8), Pat Luth (75.0) and Mitchell Moore (75.5) round out CSU's lineup for the Wildcat Invitational.

CSU is back in action at the Wright State Invitational on April 4-5.
