Vikings Start Spring Season at Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD, SC - The Cleveland State men's golf team opened the spring season by playing the first 36 holes of the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Monday at the par-72, 6,913-yard The Wexford Plantation Course.

The Vikings were in sixth place after a first round 297 and moved up to fifth place after a second round even-par 288.

Joey Krecic led the Vikings with a 36-hole total of 141, carding an even-par 72 in the morning and a three-under-par 69 in the afternoon. He made nine birdies on the day, tied for second most in the field, including five in the second round.

Blake Prince fired back-to-back rounds of even-par 72 and is tied for 13th place overall, while Paul Minko shot 76-73 (149) and is tied for 32nd place.

Campbell leads the field with a 36-hole total of 568 and is followed by USC-Aiken (576), Louisville (577), UNC-Wilmington (581) and Cleveland State (585) to round out the top-five. The Vikings finished the day four shots ahead of Presbyterian and Radford who are tied for sixth place.

The final round of the event will be played on Tuesday.
