Men's Golf Headed to Washington for NCAA Regionals

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team is heading to Bremerton, Wash., for the NCAA Men's Golf Championship Regionals from May 14-16 at the Gold Mountain G.C.

The selections were announced on Monday morning on The Golf Channel's Morning Drive.

The Gold Mountain G.C. is a par-72, 7,168-yard course near Seattle.

This will be CSU's sixth appearance at the NCAA Regionals in the last 10 years after the Vikings won the Horizon League Championship last week in Florida by 10 shots over Oakland. CSU also played in the NCAA regionals in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2014.

The Vikings are the 13th seed in the region that includes top-seeded South Carolina and second-seeded and host Washington. USC is the third seed and is followed by Baylor, UAB, TCU, Iowa State, Sam Houston State, Michigan, California-Davis, VCU, Pepperdine, CSU and South Dakota.

Senior Michael Balcar, who earned first team All-Horizon League honors for the third straight year, leads the team with a 72.9 scoring average. He was tied for the lead at the league championship after 54 holes before falling in the first playoff hole.

Junior Mitchell Moore joined Balcar on the all-tournament team after finishing fourth at the league championship. He is posting a 75.8 scoring average this year. Junior Paul Minko (75.7), sophomore Pat Luth (75.8) and freshman Joey Krecic (75.6) rounded out CSU's lineup at the league championship.
