Balcar & Hackman Named to All-League Golf Teams
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State senior Michael Balcar was named to the All-Horizon League Men's Golf team, while junior Allyson Hackman was voted to the All-Horizon League Women's Golf team. Both teams were announced at the league banquet on Thursday night ahead of the league championship that begins on Friday morning in Florida.

Balcar is making his third straight appearance on the all-league team and becomes the third player in program history to earn all-league honors three times. He joins Jake Scott who was an all-league pick in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and Andrew Bailey who was a four-time all-league honoree from 2011-14.

Balcar is tops on this year's team and ranks second in the Horizon League with a 72.8 scoring average. He has a fifth place and 11th place showing in his last two tournaments. Balcar has five top-20 finishes in his seven events this year and leads the team with nine rounds of par or better out of his 18 rounds.

Balcar, who ranks fourth in CSU history with a 74.7 career scoring average, tied for third at the league championship as a sophomore and tied for fifth place last season.

Hackman is making her second straight appearance on the all-league team after ranking third in the Horizon League with a 77.3 scoring average, currently the lowest average in a season in program history. Hackman has posted five top-five finishes this year in CSU's nine events, including a medalist honor at the Benbow Invitational in early March.

Hackman's career scoring average of 79.0 is tops in school history, more than two shots better than Ariel Sparrow (2009-13) who is second at 81.1.

Hackman has made the Horizon League all-tournament team in each of her first two seasons, tying for sixth place as a freshman and tying for fourth place last season.

Both the men's and women's teams open play in the Horizon League Championship at the Mission Inn Resort on Friday (April 24) morning with the second round scheduled for Saturday (April 25) and the final round on Sunday (April 26).
