Vikings in Second at Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate

VERONA, N.Y. - Cleveland State shot and opening round 304 and followed it with a second round two-under-par 286 and is in second place at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate.

The 54-hole event is being played at the par-72, 7,105 yard Kaluhyat Golf Course.

Teams battled through constant rain in the opening round and the Vikings were tied for second place after the first 18 holes before a two-under-par second round allowed CSU to open up a 16 shot lead over third place Detroit.

Missouri leads CSU by five shots heading into Sunday's final round.

Mitchell Moore opened with a 76 before blistering the course with a second round 67, the low round of the day, allowing him to move into a tie for first place after 36 holes with Ryan Zech and Wilson Sundvold of Missouri at one-under-par 143.

Moore's 67 was his career low round at CSU and tied for the first lowest round in school history.

Michael Balcar is tied for sixth place after rounds of 77-72 (149), while Joey Krecic is tied for 11th place with a 36 hole total of 151. Krecic was in second place after a first round 73 and shot a 78 in the afternoon.

Blake Prince (78-75) and Pat Luth (81-72) are tied for 18th place at 153 as all five CSU players are inside the top-20 in the 58 player field.

The final round will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday.
