CSU Places Fourth at Marshall Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - Brendan Byrne posted a top-10 finish as Cleveland State finished fourth of 15 teams at the Marshall Fall Invitational that concluded on Tuesday morning at the par-71, 6,573-yard Guyan Golf and Country Club.

The Vikings closed the tournament with a final round 289 after shooting 289 and 284 yesterday for a 54 hole total of 862.

Richmond won the event at 855, while Cincinnati and Eastern Kentucky finished tied for second, three shots back at 858. CSU was fourth and Loyola (MD) finished fifth (864).

Byrne was CSU's top finisher, tying for ninth place with a one-under-par total of 212. He carded rounds of 71-70-71.

Junior Michael Balcar tied for 14th place at 214 (71-70-73), while senior Andrew Bailey shot 73-73-70 (216) and tied for 18th place.

The Vikings will be out of action until CSU hosts the CSU Invitational at Barrington C.C. on Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
