CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team will host the CSU Invitational on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 1-2) at the par-71, 7,012-yard Canterbury G.C.

After playing a practice round on Sunday (Sept. 30), the 11-team field will play 36 holes on Monday followed by the final round on Tuesday. Action is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on both Monday and Tuesday.

In addition to the Vikings, the field includes Horizon League schools Detroit, Loyola, Wright State and Youngstown State, as well as Appalachian State, Evansville, IPFW, Malone, Oakland and Robert Morris.

Last year's Invitational was shortened to just 18 holes after the opening 36 holes were canceled due to rain. IPFW shot 289 to win the event by five shots over CSU, while Cleveland State'sAndrew Bailey carded a three-under-par 68 to claim medalist honors.

The Vikings will be returning to action for the first time since winning the John Piper Invitational on Sept. 17-18 at Bowling Green. CSU was in fourth place after an opening round 296, but a second round 291 lifted the Vikings into first place after day one. CSU carded a final round 299 in windy, wet conditions to claim its first tournament title since the 2011 Horizon League Championship.

Bailey placed third overall with a 54-hole total of 219 (73-74-72), while Michael Klaric rebounded from an opening round 79 to move all the way up to a tie for fourth place at 220 (79-71-70).

The CSU Invitational will be the Vikings second to last tournament of the fall season, which will conclude on Oct. 8-9 at the UC Bearcat Invitational.
