CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's golf team returns to action when the Vikings compete in the Don Benbow Invitational on Monday and Tuesday (March 11-12). The event will be played in Jacksonville, Fla., with Butler serving as the host.

The Vikings opened the spring season with three matches at The Match Play at Reunion in Orlando on Feb. 11-12. The Vikings fell to DePaul and Marquette and earned a 7-0 win over Seton Hall.

Junior Andrew Bailey, the reigning Horizon League Player of the Year, sophomore Michael Balcar, junior Brendan Byrne, senior Jon Riemer and freshman Mike Bishop all won two of their three matches at The Match Play.

"We were able to get some good experience a few weeks ago at The Match Play and I thought they guys played well for their first spring tournament," head coach Steve Weir said. "All seven guys played well against Seton Hall and we were right there in the other two matches."

CSU played in five fall tournaments, winning the John Piper Invitational and earning runner-up honors at the CSU Invitational.

Bailey averaged 72.4 in the fall, including a team-best seven rounds of par or better and five top-20 finishes. Balcar was second on the team in scoring average in the fall at 73.9, while Riemer averaged 74.1 and Michael Klaric was at 75.5.
