CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State shot rounds of 297 and 293 and is in second place out of 11 teams after the opening day of the CSU Invitational. The 54-hole event is being played at the par-72, 7,012-yard Canterbury G.C.
The Vikings will enter the final round seven shots behind Oakland, which fired rounds of 291 and 292 today.
CSU's second round 293 was tied for the third best round of the day.
IPFW is in third place at 598, eight shots behind CSU. Youngstown State is in fourth place (602) and is followed by Detroit (606), Appalachian State (611), Robert Morris (612), Wright State (616), Evansville (620), Loyola (628) and Malone (636).
The Vikings, who are playing their first tournament since winning the John Piper Invitational on Sept. 17-18, are after their second straight tournament title.
Jon Riemer is tied for fourth place after two rounds after recording rounds of 68-78 (146). His opening round four-under-par 68 was a career-low (old low was 70) and was also the low round of the day. Reimer played the par-three's in two-under-par, the best in the field during the first two rounds. He made 22 pars and seven birdies in his 36 holes.
Andrew Bailey is in eighth place, one shot behind Riemer, after carding rounds of 75-72 (147). Bailey tied Reimer for the team-lead with seven birdies today and also played the par-three's in one-under-par, while also being three-under-par on the par-five's.
Michael Balcar (77-74 - 151) is tied for 17th place, while Michael Klaric is tied for 23rd place at 152 (77-75). Keith Brooks rallied from a first round 81 to post an even-par 72 in round two and is tied for 25th place (153).
Playing as an individual, Mike Bishop is tied for ninth place at 149 (74-75).
The final round will be played on Tuesday morning.
