CSU Second, Bailey Leads After Two Rounds of League Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Cleveland State shot a second round 292, eight shots better than the opening round, and remained in second place after the second day of the Horizon League Championship on Saturday at the par-72, 6,770-yard Mission Inn Resort.

Valparaiso carded a second round 289 and moved into the lead, two shots ahead of the Vikings.

Valpo has a 36 hole total of 289 and is followed by CSU (291), Loyola (604), Green Bay (606), Detroit (610), Youngstown State (621) and Wright State (627).

Junior Andrew Bailey, the Horizon League Player of the Year, shot an even-par 72 and maintained the overall lead with a two-under-par 36 hole total of 142 (70-72).

Sophomore Michael Balcar, a first team all-league pick, shot a one-under-par 71 and moved into a tie for third place at 146 (75-71).

Senior Jon Riemer, who was also a member of the all-league team, is tied for 12th place at 152 (77-75) along with junior Brendan Byrne (78-74).

The final round of the league championship will be played on Sunday.
