Vikings Finish as Runner-Up at Detroit Titan Invitational

HIGHLAND, Mich. - Cleveland State shot a final round 298 and finished as the runner-up of 12 teams at the Detroit Titan Invitational that concluded on Saturday at the par-72, 7,142-yard Prestwick Village G.C.

The Vikings were tied for second after yesterday's first 36 holes after rounds of 294 and 299.

Junior Andrew Bailey carded a final round even-par 72 and wound up in fifth place in the 72 player field at even-par 216. He opened the tournament with rounds of 71 and 73 on Friday.

Junior Brendan Byrne notched a top-20 finish, tying for 15th place at 224 with rounds of 76-75-73, while Jon Riemer placed 17th, shooting a 225 total with rounds of 74-76-75.

Freshman Mitchell Moore, who was making his first appearance of the spring season, tied for 18th place at 226 (73-75-78).

Sophomore Michael Balcar, playing as an individual, shot 71-70-76 (217) and tied for sixth place.

Host Detroit shot a final round 287 to win the team title with a 54 hole total of 872 (289-296-287).

Youngstown State was third at 899 and was followed by Valparaiso (906), Oakland (908), Green Bay (915), Canisius (917), Wright State (925), Iona (926), Valparaiso "B" (927) and Madonna and Humber (943).

CSU concludes its regular season schedule when the Vikings compete in Boilermaker Invitational on April 20-21, leading up to the Horizon League Championship in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., from April 26-28.
