Men's Basketball Closes Out Home Schedule With Three Games This Week

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland State University men's basketball team, which has won five straight games and 10 of its last 13, closes out the home portion of the 2000-2001 schedule this week with a trio of games.

On Monday, Feb. 5, the Vikes, 15-9 overall and 7-2 in the MCC, step out of conference play to play host to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (11-12) at 7 p.m. at Goodman Arena in a contest that will be aired on FoxSportsNet Ohio. Earlier this season, Cleveland State beat the Islanders 81-77 in the championship game of the Koch Petroleum Islander Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas on Dec. 29.

The Vikings, who hold a half-game lead over Butler in the league race, return to MCC action on Thursday, Feb. 8 with a 7:05 p.m. tip-off against the Wright State Raiders (14-7, 5-3 MCC). CSU then wraps up with the Butler Bulldogs (15-6, 6-2) with a 7:05 p.m. game on Saturday, Feb. 10 on Senior Night. The Raiders and the Bulldogs account for the only two marks in CSU's MCC loss column. The Vikes droped a 65-52 decision at Butler on Jan. 11 and fell at Wright State 67-58 on Jan. 13.

Junior Theo Dixon, who poured in a career-high 33 points at Loyola on Saturday, leads the Vikings with 18.3 ppg while Jamaal Harris, who scored 21 at UIC Thursday, backs him up with 14.4 ppg.
