AKRON, Ohio - Junior Lomomba scored a career-high 16 points, but Akron used five players in double-figures and shot 53-percent to claim an 87-57 win over Cleveland State on Sunday at James A. Rhodes Arena.

The loss drops CSU to 7-5 this year, while Akron improved to 6-4.

Lomomba, who was playing just his fifth game of the season after coming back from a foot injury, made his second career start. He hit 4-of-5 from the field and went 8-of-13 at the free throw line.

The loss snapped CSU's 11-game win streak against opponents from the Mid-American Conference that dated back to the 2007-08 season.

Bryn Forbes added 13 points off the bench, his fifth game of double figure scoring in the last six. Tim Kamczyc scored nine and Sebastian Douglas finished with seven points, five rebounds and four assists.

Kamczyc hit a three-pointer three minutes into the game to tie things at 6-6, but it was all Akron from there. The Zips used a 15-3 run over the next seven minutes to take a 21-9 lead at the 10:45 mark of the first half.

Akron was led by Nick Haney who scored 19 points off the bench. Zeke Marshall tallied 18 points, while Demetrius Treadwell scored 15 points with eight rebounds. Alex Abreu and Jake Kretzer finished with 11 points each.

The Zips controlled the paint all afternoon, finishing with 42 points in the paint compared to 12 for CSU.

Akron went 33-of-62 (.532) from the field and hit nine three's. CSU finished 18-of-52 (.346) from the field. Akron also won the rebounding battle, 43-23.

The Vikings are back in action on Friday (Dec. 28) when CSU hosts Rio Grande at 7:00 p.m. in the Wolstein Center.
