• Scored in double figures for the ninth time (in 10 games), finishing with a game-high 21 points. It was the sixth time he led the team in scoring this year and his fifth 20-point game.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES • Cleveland State improves to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in league play, winning its league opener for the first time since 2002-03.
• This was the 68th all-time meeting between CSU and Youngstown State with the Penguins now owning a slight 35-33 lead. YSU is the most-often played opponent in CSU history. CSU is 21-13 in games played in Cleveland, including 8-2 in the Wolstein Center.
• Reserve center Renard Fields missed the game with a sprained left ankle.
• The Vikings opened up a 12-3 lead at the 15:39 mark and never trailed, opening up a 20-point halftime lead (44-24).
• Cleveland State had assists on each of its first 11 baskets and finished with 27 assists (31 baskets).
• CSU freshmen D'Aundray Brown, a native of Youngstown whose parents both played basketball at YSU, had a strong performance, scoring a career-high matching eight points on four-for-four shooting.
• The Vikings shot .646 from the field in the contest (31-48) and limited YSU to .358 shooting (19-53).
• The Vikings, who lead the Horizon LEague in rebounding, had a +9 edge in the contest (32-23).
