Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Cleveland State Head Coach Gary Waters

"I thought our guys competed today. That's what I looked for. Oftentimes after you play in a big, big game and come back and play in a game that isn't as big, it's hard to get up for that. We emphasized playing hard. We did that with forcing 20 turnovers and getting 15 steals. We count deflections, and I think we had 40 tonight". When you get 40 hands on a ball, someone is in trouble."

"That's who we are. We go after the ball. We feel if we can get 20 turnovers we're going to go places. We try to force people into traps. It's really our identity."

"We talked about keeping our focus. I didn't want them to take a step back. What we talked about a lot in the locker room is we're not playing against that team, but against ourselves."

"St. Bonaventure is a big time team. Their center is a pro. He's a first round draft pick. He led the Atlantic 10 in scoring each of the last two seasons. You have to do something to offset him because he can go for 30 or 40 points. They're tall up front. This is a big team coming in here."

"D'Aundray has put in some time. When you put in time, you get results. He worked hard to understand where his weaknesses were. He wanted to improve his left hand and his shot. You can't master everything, but we've worked on his mid-range shot."

"You have to put the freshmen in the fire sometime. The primary reason why that's the case is those four seniors are leaving after this year, and you don't want to have to start over."

Senior Guard D'Aundray Brown

"It's always good to be at home. We take pride in defending our home court. It feels good to be around the fans and the city and play good basketball."

"Sitting out that whole year made me miss the game and made me hungry. It always feels good to get back out on the court."

"Coach told me to work on my shot and get in the gym and get up extra shots. I put in hard work and so far it's paying off."

"We have goals but we're taking it one day at a time. The next step will be to take things from this game and go back to practice and prepare for the next game. As long as we follow our identity - playing defense - we will be fine."

Freshman Forward Anton Grady

"I feel like its just exciting to be out there. To step on the floor with this group of guys and know that all coach wants me to do is play hard allows me to relax and play my game."

"I feel like I'm giving the hometown a reason to come support Cleveland State. I'm a hometown kid and I stayed here and I want the city to come out and support us and pack this place."
