Postgame Quotes

Feb. 24, 2011

Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Cleveland State Head Coach Gary Waters:
"(Opening Statements) They outplayed us in every phase of the game. I thought our kids fought back, but we could not get over the hump. Down the stretch, I thought we still could have won the game. We turned the ball over twice , we missed two free throws, and gave up three offensive rebounds. All three things I say that our team needs to do in the last minutes of the game. I have told my team that those three things that championship teams do."

"(On getting over tonight) Biggest thing is that we have a game on Saturday. We have to take care of our business at home and we did not do that. The last game was so long ago, you could not go back to it."

"(On Milwaukee's tough shots) It was not our day. They played hard enough to win the game. In the last five minutes we still could have won the game. We gave up five offensive rebounds, and two free throws. We have to make sure we get something good out of every possession and we didn't.

"(On the bench play) We didn't have the bench and we didn't rebound the basketball. Those two things will hurt us. I think we win this game if we have Charlie (Woods) on the bench. Without Aaron (Pogue), our bench cannot handle (Anthony)Hill."

"(On the halftime score) Obviously we didn't play well. I felt a little relieved that we were down what we were at the half. They could not stop us when we took it to the basket. We did not take care of our buisness.

Cleveland State's Norris Cole:
"(On Milwaukee's start)They outplayed us. We could not get to their shooters quick enough. We had some open shots and we like to attack the basket more. When we hit them we look good, but when we missed them we don't.

"(On not controlling their destiny) We are going to keep fighting. Our goals are still the same. We have a bunch of fighters on our team. There are no quitters on this team. We worked too hard in the off season."

Milwaukee Head Coach Rob Jeter:
"(Opening Statements) Incredible game. Norris Cole can lead by himself. We made some big defensive plays down the stretch. It was a good team game for us. We showed that we could play tough here in this type of enviornment. Norris Cole was getting by everybody, but our second defenders helped. Tonight, as a team we did enough to win. Our guys are resilient."

"(On the good start) It was key for us to get out to a good start. It's important to get started right away when we are on the road. You have to come with your best game. There is no time to celebrate the victory."

"(On Cole's 27) Before the game I said that if we could keep him to 30 points, we would have a chance to win the game. We kept him to 27 and we think that's a manageable number."

Milwaukee's Tony Meier
"(On hitting the three with 1 sec on the shot clock) It was initially meant to go inside and second option was to me and that's how it happened."

Milwaukee's Kaylon Williams
"(On the start of the game) We wanted to get out to a great start. If you don't it's pretty hard to come back in a place like this. We played 40 minutes. We are all happy, but coach won't let us get too high.
