Postgame Quotes

Feb. 20, 2010

Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Cleveland State Head Coach Gary Waters:
"It took us a little while to wake up, and we had to offset that with the press because in the first half we weren't playing great defense but we did much better in the second half. We forced ten turnovers in the second half and that is what we do."

"Our bench was aggresive today coming into the game, and that comes from having opportunities like they had in this game. This was Lance's first game and he still isn't 100% but he came out aggresive and ready to play. His strength is taking the ball to the hoop and that's what he was able to do in today's game."

"Tim is working hard and he is defending, and doing the smart things on the court which is what he has been doing all year."

"To start the game I didn't want to go that hard on defense because we didn't have everyone on the floor, but Toledo started to pick it up and we had to start doing what we do, and that's press. After halftime I knew we had to come out pressing and that worked for us."

"These next two games are going to be difficult, both teams have the possibility of playing better than us so we have to come out strong playing our style of basketball and controlling the tempo."

Cleveland State's Charlie Woods:
"We always make it a goal for the bench to come out and bring it and match the opponent bench with points. It feels good to get out of the floor but that comes from working hard in practice."

Cleveland State's Tim Kamczyc:
"It's a different feeling to start in a game, I didn't really know that I was starting until game time and I was thankful that I was able to contribute to the team as best I could. When you lose a player like Trey that forces everyone to step up and we need everyone to make contributions to the game which we did tonight."

Toledo Head Coach Gene Cross:
"It was an exciting first half, we scored the ball unlike any other time this year. We also handled their press pretty well which was a worry of mine coming into the game. I knew that they were going to turn it up in the second half and you can tell that with the difference of how we shot the ball in the second half."

"We turned the ball over way too much and gave them too many opportunities and when you do that you can't expect to win."

"The Horizon League is just a tremendous league, they have great coaches at all of the schools and the league is really growing into a powerful basketball league."
