Post Game Quotes

Cleveland State Head Coach Mike Garland: "I thought this was a great win for us and our program. This was the second -traight game we won because we executed our defensive game plan to a tee. We are who we are. We scrap and play blue collar ball, and when we do that, it doesn't matter who the opponent is, we usually come out and win it, and I think our kids are starting to understand that, when we play that way, we are very successful.

"I still feel that we are a good offensive team. I thought we had some good looks, but they didn't go down. But we have to play the way we know how to play and be blue collared. I'll take these wins any way I can get them. And, when you think about it, you look at the NCAA Tournament games, this is the way those games are won. I think this could be a blessing in disguise the way we are playing. We're learning to win in tough-fought, hard-nosed games."

"When Carlos English comes and plays as a point guard as he did tonight, we're a whole different team. He only had four assists, but he could have had 10 or 12. I'm trying to call a play and he's calling the plays before I am. I know that if he keeps playing the way he can play that position, that makes us pretty good."

On holding UD forward Harding Nana in check: "That kid was averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds a game, and we held him to six points and seven rebounds. That's tough. Anybody will tell you that he is an NBA prospect. I know he didn't look that way tonight, but Patrick Tatham did a great job of doing exactly what we wanted him to do, and that was keep the ball out of his hands. The same goes for Frashon McGee and Ije Nwankwo. They got on him and limited his touches."

Cleveland State guard Carlos English: On playing a late-season non-conference game: "You get up for any game. Anything can happen at anytime this close to March Madness time. That's when upsets can happen. We don't overlook any team. We just came out and played as a team and got the victory."

Delaware Head Coach David Henderson: "I thought it was a hard-fought, physical basketball game that I felt Cleveland State came out in the second half and really created some baskets off our turnovers. I thought that was the difference in the ballgame. The turnovers were really the separation, and we never really got anything going on the offensive end."

"We started out competing pretty well early, but we struggled on the offensive end of the court. We only scored 40 points. You have to be able to put up more points than that. We got shots, but you have to make baskets, otherwise it makes it easier on the defense."
