DETROIT (AP) - Rashad Phillips scored 24 points and had a game-high five assists Sunday as Detroit ended the first half with an explosive run and held on to beat Cleveland State 75-63.

The teams tied the game five times in the first half and the score was 14-14 with 7:27 left before Willie Green hit a 3-pointer that launched a 3 1/2-minute 13-0 run for the Titans (19-8, 9-3 Midwestern Collegiate).

Green scored 16 points in the first half and finished the game with 21 on 9-of-11 shooting.

The half ended with a 34-19 Detroit advantage, as Cleveland State (17-11, 8-4) went 6-of-28 (21.4 percent) from the floor in the first 20 minutes. The Titans were 14-of-30 (46.7 percent).

Detroit increased its lead to 39-21 early in the second half before a string of 3-pointers narrowed the margin to 47-40 with 13:27 to play.

The Titans eventually put a win out of reach for the Vikings, however, as Detroit led 73-53 with 2:48 left in the game.

Detroit shot 14-of-25 (56 percent) in the second half while holding Cleveland State to 15-of-30 (50 percent).

Jermaine Robinson led the Vikings with 16 points. Jamaal Harris scored 14 and Theo Dixon added 13.
