Vikings Drop MCC Heartbreaker To Butler 59-56

CLEVELAND (AP) - Brandon Miller hit a 3-point shot with three seconds left as Butler ended Cleveland State's seven-game winning streak with a 59-56 win Saturday night in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference.

Theo Dixon, whose two free throws with 32 seconds left had tied the game at 56, led Cleveland State with 16 points. Jermaine Robinson had 15.

Butler (16-7 overall, 7-3 MCC) was led by Thomas Jackson's 15 points and 14 from LaVall Jordan.

Despite the loss, Cleveland State (17-10 and 8-3) maintained its lead in the conference standings by one-half game. However, the Vikings must play their final three games on the road.

Butler, which trailed 30-23 at halftime, began the second half with a 12-0 run, with Jordan hitting a 3-pointer and a jumper to lead 35-32 with 13:13 to play.

Cleveland State never regained the lead, and the biggest lead the Bulldogs managed was 56-50 with 3:23 left on a a 3-point shot by Miller, the last basket by Butler until his game-winner.

Dixon hit two free throws with 2:21 left to make 56-52, a jumper with 2:02 to go to get Cleveland State within 56-54 and two free throws to tie the game and set up Miller's shot off a Jackson assist.

CSU outrebounded the Bulldgos 36-31 as senior Kevin Ross hauled in a game-high 12 boards, one shy of his career high.
