FAIRBORN, Ohio - Wright State's Jerran Young scored 23 points and the Raiders hit nine three-pointers to claim a 69-53 win over Cleveland State in Horizon League action on Wednesday at the Nutter Center.

CSU fell to 9-8 overall and 1-2 in the Horizon League, while the Raiders improved to 12-4 overall and remained perfect in the Horizon League at 3-0.

The win also snapped CSU's six-game win streak in the series.

Bryn Forbes led the Vikings with 15 points and five rebounds, reaching double figures for the 10th time in the last 11 games. Tim Kamczyc scored eight points with four rebounds, while Junior Lomomba finished with eight points. Marlin Mason chipped in five points and five rebounds off the bench.

Kendall Griffin scored 12 points for the Raiders.

The Raiders took a quick 8-0 lead thanks in large part to a four-point play by Matt Vest and a Cole Darling three-pointer.

CSU struggled from the field to start the contest, missing its first six shots, including five three-pointers, before a Forbes bucket got the Vikings on the scoreboard. CSU would pull within 14-10, but back-to-back three-pointers by Darling and Jerran Young started a 10-0 Raider run that extended the lead to 24-10 with 6:23 left in the half.

It was Wright State's hot shooting from three-point that allowed them to take an 18-point lead (35-17) into the locker room as the Raiders hit 7-of-13 from long range in the opening 20 minutes.

But the Vikings also hurt themselves with turnovers, many of which were unforced. The Raiders would turn 11 first half CSU turnovers into 17 points on the other end.

CSU shot just 6-of-23 (.261) from the floor in the first half, including 2-of-12 (.167) from three-point.

A Kamczyc three-pointer to open the second half started a 9-2 CSU burst that allowed the Vikings to pull within nine (37-28) at the 17 minute mark, but four straight Raider free throws and a three-point play by Tavares Sledge helped push the WSU lead back to 16 points (44-28) with 14:21 left.

CSU got it back within 12 (57-45) on two free throws by Junior Lomomba with five minutes to play, but Young and Kendall Griffin buried back-to-back three-pointers to push the lead back to 18 points (63-45) with 3:30 to play.

The Raiders hit 9-of-20 from three-point for the game, while CSU was 7-for-20. CSU won the battle on the boards, 33-29, but committed 16 turnovers that the Raiders turned into 24 points.

CSU did hit all eight of its free throws.

The Vikings are back in action on Saturday (Jan. 12) when CSU hosts Detroit at 4:30 p.m. in the Wolstein Center. It will be a true doubleheader with the CSU women hosting the Titans at 2:00 p.m.
