Cleveland State Men’s Basketball Falls to High Point in CBI Quarterfinals

Daytona Beach, FL-The Cleveland State men's basketball team saw its postseason run come to an end on Monday in the Quarterfinals of the 2024 Ro College Basketball Invitational. The Vikings fell to top seed High Point 93-74.

Cleveland State finishes the 2023-24 season with a 21-15 overall record. It is the third consecutive season that the Vikings have finished with 20 or more victories and a school record fourth consecutive postseason appearance.

Cleveland State finished with four players in double figures led by Drew Lowder who finished with 17 points. Lowder finished 4-of-8 from three-point range in the contest.

Dylan Arnett, Tristan Enaruna and Tae Williams all finished with 11 points each and Tevin Smith added nine points off the bench for the Vikings.

After giving up the first basket, Enaruna knocked down a deep three to give Cleveland State an early 3-2 advantage.

The lead was short lived and would be the only lead the Vikings would have in the game. High Point took the lead into the under-16 timeout and the two teams stayed close with the lead hovering between four and seven points for the majority of the first half.

High Point took control late in the first half as the Panthers finished the half on a 7-0 run to take a 16-point lead into the halftime break.

Cleveland State cut the lead to 12 early in the second half with Arnett scoring on two of the first three offensive possessions. The Vikings could not draw closer than that the rest of the way, as High Point maintained the double-digit margin through the rest of the game.

Cleveland State caps its postseason run finishing 3-2 in the five combined games in the Horizon League tournament and CBI. Yesterday's victory over Northern Colorado was the first for the program since 2015 in a postseason tournament.
