Cleveland State Men’s Basketball Welcomes Baldwin Wallace for Exhibition Game

Cleveland, OH-The Cleveland State men's basketball team is set to tip-off the 2023-24 season with an exhibition matchup against Baldwin Wallace at the Wolstein Center Thursday night. The game is set for a 7 p.m. tip. Tickets are available for just $6 and can be purchased online HERE

This marks the lone exhibition contest for the Vikings before the regular season opener on Monday at Duquesne. There will be no live streaming coverage of the game, but fans can listen on 1100 AM WTAM or the iHeartRadio app with Al Pawlowski and Pat Vuyancih on the call.

Fans will get their first look at the 2023-24 Cleveland State team. The Vikings return 62 percent of the scoring and 51 percent of the rebounding from last year's team that made a run to the Horizon League Tournament Championship Game. Eight players return, led by preseason First-Team All-Horizon League performer Tristan Enaruna.

In addition, six new faces will suit up for the first time in the green and white. This group includes transfer Tevin Smith and local product Danny Young (Shaker Heights, OH).

Head Coach Daniyal Robinson has assembled a challenging non-conference slate in his second season in charge of the program. The Vikings are set to battle three teams who won 20 or more games and made postseason appearances last season. Robinson set a record with 21 wins in his first season, the most by a first-year head coach in school history.

This will be the second consecutive season that the Vikings and Yellow Jackets have squared off in exhibition play. Cleveland State opened last season with a 74-52 victory over BW on November 3, 2022. Four players scored in double figures led by Enaruna who finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double.

Baldwin Wallace returns six letterwinners from a team that finished 12-13 overall and 8-10 in the Ohio Athletic Conference last season. Head Coach Tom Heil is in his ninth season and welcomes nine new faces to the roster in 2023-24.

Following the road matchup with Duquesne, the Vikings open the home season at the Wolstein Center one week from today, Wednesday, November 8 against Defiance. Tickets are available for just $2.16 online or by calling the ticket office at 216-687-4848.
