Tristan Enaruna Competing for Netherlands National Team in FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament

Cleveland State senior Tristan Enaruna has been selected to represent his home country, The Netherlands, in the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament. The tournament began with pool play which kicked off on Sunday.

The Netherlands is 1-1 after dropping a 91-89 decision to Sweden in the opening game and picking up a 70-68 win over Belgium this morning in game two. Enaruna came off the bench and scored four points in the win over Belgium along with six rebounds in 26 minutes.

Enaruna joins a roster that includes several Division I players as well as professional players from all areas of the country. The Netherlands roster features four Division I players. Enaruna is the only one of those four from a non-Power Five institution. The Netherlands competes in Group D, alongside Croatia, Belgium and Sweden. Teams that advance through pool play have the chance to earn one of five qualifying spots in the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which will determine the nations that compete in the 2024 Olympic Basketball Tournament held in Paris, France.

Enaruna, who hails from Almere, Flevoland, is no stranger to international competition. He competed for his home country in the 2019 FIBA U18 Championship held in Greece. Enaruna led the team in scoring averaging 19.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest over seven games in the tournament.

Enaruna enters his fifth and final season of college basketball following a breakout campaign in 2022-23, his first season at Cleveland State. He was named First Team All-Horizon League after averaging 15.6 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game. He finished the season shooting 51 percent from the field.
