CSU Announces Leadership Change in Men’s Basketball

CLEVELAND – Cleveland State University has issued the following statement regarding its men's basketball program:

Following an evaluation of the men's basketball program, Scott Garrett, CSU's director of athletics, has announced that head coach Dennis Felton and his staff have been relieved of their duties.

"We take our mission to provide CSU student-athletes with a transformational experience very seriously. Our coaches operate with the expectation that they should build a culture supportive of our student-athletes in the classroom, accountable for their conduct as representatives of the University, and for their performance on the court," said Garrett. "We will seek a new leader for our program who can deliver on this commitment."

Patrick Vuyancih will serve as special assistant to the director of athletics to assist with administration of the men's basketball program until a permanent coach is named. Patrick is a long-time local basketball coach and former Viking basketball student-athlete who currently serves as Cleveland State men's basketball radio and television analyst and as a program coordinator in CSU's College of Education.
