CLEVELAND -- Cleveland State will battle the top-ranked team in the Horizon League for the second straight game as the Vikings visit Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m. in BB&T Arena on Saturday (Feb. 23).
After battling Wright State on Thursday, Cleveland State will meet Northern Kentucky who shares the top spot in the Horizon League standings with the Raiders.
Cleveland State, which is 8-21 overall and 3-13 in the Horizon League, dropped an 87-61 decision to Wright State on Thursday. The Vikings shot 51.9 percent from the floor in the first half and trailed by only 43-38 at the intermission, but the Raiders pulled away in the second half by holding CSU to 30.8 percent shooting.
Tyree Appleby and Seth Millner each scored 11 points to lead CSU against Wright State. Stefan Kenic had eight points and four rebounds, while Kasheem Thomas finished with eight points, rebounds and two assists.
Cleveland State made seven three-pointers on Thursday which increased its season total to 286. The Vikings are only nine three-pointers away from breaking the school record for three-point baskets in a season which was set last season.
Freshman Rashad Williams also will continue his pursuit of the CSU record for three-pointers in a season on Saturday. He made a pair of three-pointers against Wright State which upped his season total to 85 and moved him into second place on the all-time list. Williams needs 12 three-pointers over the final two games of the season to break the school record of 96 held by Trey Lewis.
Northern Kentucky won the first meeting between the two teams by a score of 91-76 in Cleveland. Tyler Sharpe had 23 points for the Norse, while Drew McDonald finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds and six assists.
Williams led the Vikings with 23 points, while Kenic finished with 11 points and Thomas added 10 points.
