Vikings Close Home Schedule Against IUPUI

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland State closes out the home portion of the 2018-19 schedule against IUPUI on Saturday (Feb. 16) at 7 p.m. in the Wolstein Center.

The Vikings, who are 7-20 overall and 2-12 in the Horizon League, are 7-9 at home this season. CSU is 2-2 in its last four games, which included victories over Youngstown State and Milwaukee.

Cleveland State dropped a tight 81-77 decision to UIC on Thursday as the Flames scored the final four points of the game to pull away from the Vikings. Tyree Appleby led the Vikings with 16 points, all coming in the second half, and he also added five assists, four rebounds and two steals.

Rashad Williams had 12 points for Cleveland State, while Dibaji Walker added 10 points and a career-best seven rebounds.

IUPUI, which is 14-12 overall and 6-7 in the Horizon League, won the first game of the season series 90-74 in Indianapolis. The Jaguars shot 58.6 percent from the floor and received 16 points and 13 rebounds from Elyjah Goss. Jaalam Hill and Stefan Kenic each finished with 18 points to lead the Vikings.

Appleby is the Vikings leading scorer as he is averaging 16.9 points per game and leads the Horizon League averaging 5.3 assists per game. He recorded the first triple-double in school history against Milwaukee and has 19 double-figure scoring games this season.

Freshman Rashad Williams is second on the team averaging 10.7 points per game, while Hill is averaging 10.0 points and a team-leading 6.2 rebounds per contest.

IUPUI is led by Camron Justice who is averaging 19.2 points per game and Jaylen Minnett is scoring 11.4 points per game.

Saturday's contest also marks Senior Day for the Vikings as Dontel Highsmith and David Payne will be playing their final home game in a Cleveland State uniform against the Jaguars.

Cleveland State is also celebrating Hall of Fame Induction Weekend with J'Nathan Bullock (men's basketball), Kailey Klein (women's basketball) and Phil Orno (men's tennis) beind inducted. The 2008-09 Cleveland State men's basketball team will also be recognized as this marks the 10th anniversary of the Vikings last NCAA Tournament team.
