Vikings Tie School Record With 14 Three's in 89-56 Win Over Notre Dame College

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State tied the single game school record with 14 three-pointers and had four players in double figures as the Vikings defeated Notre Dame (OH), 89-56, on Sunday afternoon in the Wolstein Center.

The Vikings finished 14-of-39 from three-point, marking the second time this year and the sixth time in school history CSU knocked down 14 trifectas.

Bobby Word led the Vikings with 19 points, including four three-pointers and added three rebounds and two steals. Kenny Carpenter posted 17 points, eight rebounds and two steals, while Tyree Appleby made his first career start and finished with 12 points, four rebounds, three assists, four steals and two blocked shots.

Kasheem Thomas added 10 points and five assists, while Shawn Christian knocked down three three-pointers for nine points. Dontel Highsmith added eight points and three steals Terrell Hales grabbed six rebounds with four steals.

CSU finished with 19 steals, forcing 30 turnovers which they turned into 32 points.

The Vikings led at halftime, 38-21, before erupting for 51 points on the second half, which included 10 three-pointers.

CSU finished 33-of-69 (.478) from the field, including 14-of-39 (.359) from three-point. The Vikings also blocked six shots.

The Vikings will take a week off for final exams, returning to action next Tuesday (Dec. 19) with a 7:00 pm game at Niagara. CSU will also play at Cincinnati on Thursday (Dec. 21) at 7:00 pm, returning home to host Toledo on Saturday (Dec. 23) at 2:00 pm in the Wolstein Center.
