CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State's trio of Anton Grady, Trey Lewis and Charlie Lee were each honored when the Horizon League announced its annual men's basketball honors on Monday afternoon.
Grady and Lewis were named to the five-player all-league first team, while Grady and Lee were both voted to the all-defensive team.
Grady and Lewis become the first players from CSU to earn first team All-Horizon League honors since Norris Cole in 2011. They are also the first CSU duo to be named to the first team in the same season since 1993 when Gravelle Craig and Sam Mitchell were named to the All-Mid-Continent first team.
Grady and Lee are the first players from CSU named to the all-defensive team since 2012 when D'Aundray Brown and Trey Harmon earned the honor.
Grady is making his first appearance on the postseason all-league team after being named to the preseason all-league second team in each of the last three seasons. He was the only player to rank in the top-six in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, steals and blocks in league games.
In 16 Horizon League games, Grady posted a league-best eight double-doubles. In League only games, Grady ranked sixth in scoring (15.5), first in rebounding (9.4), fourth in field goal percentage (.541), second in steals (1.8) and third in blocked shots (1.9).
Overall, Grady averaged 13.7 points and 7.6 rebounds during the regular season, shooting 49-percent from the field.
A member of the preseason All-Horizon League first team, Lewis is making his first appearance on the postseason all-league team. He ranks fourth in the league in scoring (16.5) in league only games and is tied for the league lead with 42 three-pointers.
Overall, Lewis was fourth in the league in scoring (16.9) and 10th in assists (2.9), while his 87 three-pointers made are a CSU single season school record and second best in the league. One of just two players in the League with two 30-point games this season, Lewis has 11, 20-point games this year.
Lee is making his first-ever appearance on a postseason all-league team after leading the Viking defense with his constant ball pressure out front. Lee finished the regular season with 22 steals and averaged 3.2 rebounds from his point guard position.
CSU opens play in the Horizon League tournament this weekend as the No. 4 seed. The Vikings will play a second round game on Friday (March 6) at 9:30 p.m. in Valparaiso, squaring off against the winner of a first round game between fifth-seeded Detroit and eighth-seeded Youngstown State. That game will be played on Tuesday night in Detroit.
