CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's basketball team has been selected to play in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament and will open play with a first round game at Ohio U. on Wednesday (March 19) at 7:00 p.m.
This marks the fifth time in the last seven seasons that CSU has played in the postseason and the first appearance in the CIT in school history.
The Vikings enter the CIT with a 21-11 record, having won 11 of their last 14 games. CSU finished second in the Horizon League at 12-4.
Ohio is 23-11 overall and finished 11-7 in the Mid-American Conference.
This will be the 12th all-time meeting between the two schools with the Bobcats holding a 9-2 advantage in the series. The teams have not played since OU defeated the Vikings, 87-82, to open the 1999-00 season on Nov. 20.
The CIT includes 32 of the top mid-major teams in the nation and will feature five rounds of play over the next three weeks. The semifinals (April 1) and championship game (April 3) will be televised live on CBS Sports Network.
