Now entering her fourth year as Head Coach, Teresa Baker is looking forward to a very productive and rewarding year for the Vikings. Baker not only believes in the team's enthusiasm for a great year, but she has the confidence that this season will prove to be quite competitive.

When Baker joined the CSU athletic staff three years ago she brought with her 20 years of tennis experience on both the local and national level. A certified teaching professional with the United States Professional Tennis Association (Pro-1), Baker was the head tennis professional at the Fox Creek Tennis Club and she also served as an assistant tennis professional at the River Oaks Racket Club in Rocky River, both of which are in Ohio. She also played in the NEO 5.0 NTRP USTA League

Her coaching experience began in 1979 when, as an undergraduate at California State University-Fullerton studying physical education, she coached the girls tennis team at Fullerton High School. Then, after moving to Ohio several years prior, she was hired as the head girls' coach at St. Augustine's Academy in 1989.

Through the United States Professional Tennis Association, Baker has worked as a Northeast Zonal Coach for the Western Section 12-and-under team and then, in 1996, was selected to coach at the Challenge Cup national tournament in Boca Raton, Fla. She is certified as a Professional-1 level tennis associate by the USPTA, and has been actively involved as a Northeast Ohio Tennis Association (NEOTA) District Board Member.

In 1999, Baker was presented with the USPTA/Midwest Section Nancy Mickler Award, given annually for community service and tennis development in the five-state Midwest Section. She also received the 1999 USTA/ITA Community Service Award for Division I coaches in addition to coaching the Junior Wightam Cup for the Northeast Ohio District in 1999-2000.
