COLUMBUS, Ohio - The men's and women's fencing teams combined to post an 11-1 record in action on Saturday (Feb. 10) at the Ohio State Duals. With wins over Bowling Green, Chicago, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue and Xavier, the men moved to 20-7 while solidifying their spot as the third-ranked team in the region. Meanwhile, the women posted a 5-1 mark to improve to 14-9 on the year.

Individually, freshman Liran Gross (18-0) and senior Mike Merker (16-0) went undefeated on the day, while senior Pam Marvinney and freshman Brooke Snyder paced the women with identical 10-3 records.

"This weekend saw a great team effort with our freshmen making contributions to both the men and women," head coach Jim Sager said. "We're seeing some of our best fencing of the year right now, which is a good sign with the postseason rapidly approaching."

The Vikings are off until Feb. 24-25 when they travel to Evanston, Ill. for the Northwestern Duals to wrap up the regular season.
