SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Alex Dickinson led the way for Cleveland State's women's fencing team on Saturday (Jan. 29), going 11-4 at the Notre Dame Duals.

As a team the Vikings went 0-8, dropping a close match to Detroit (12-9) and falling to Wright State (23-4), Notre Dame (24-3), Florida (19-8), Swarthmore (21-6), Lawrence (17-6), Northwestern (24-3) and Air Force (23-4).

"I was pleased with Alex' 11-4 varsity showing this weekend," head coach Andy Tulleners said. "She continues to develop her on-strip strategy and calmness, which allowed her to pull out a 2-1 result against Notre Dame."

Stephanie Lee also had a strong day, going 8-9, including sweeps over Detroit and Air Force. She also went 2-1 against Notre Dame and picked up a victory vs. Northwestern.

"Stephanie showed the greatest improvement from the last meet to today," Tulleners said.

Marie Blatnik also had a strong showing against Notre Dame and Northwestern.

"I was very pleased with Marie's progress," Tulleners said. "She displayed very good patience and control against fencers from the larger schools.

"All together, all the women showed marked improvement from the CSU invitational to today."

The fencing squad will remain in South Bend for the second day of the Notre Dame Duals, with the men facing off tomorrow (Jan. 30).
