CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's and women's fencing teams hosted their lone home meet of the season on Sunday in Woodling Gym. The Vikings welcomed teams from Case Western, Bowling Green, Michigan and Xavier in what was the largest home meet for CSU in the last four years.

The men's squad went 2-2 overall, while the women's team went 0-4, in front of a crowd that included more than 15 alumni.

"It's always fun to host an event and I was pleased with the way both teams performed today," head coach Andy Tulleners said. "We had several outstanding performances and are going to continue to work hard in practice as we prepare for our final events of the season."

The men were led by junior Liran Gross, who recorded a perfect 12-0 mark during the event.

Freshman Stephanie Lee led the women's squad with a 10-2 mark with the foil, while junior Brooke Snyder finished the day with a 10-2 mark with the epee.

The women's team had a bout record of 36-12.

"The women performed very well today, despite being short on numbers," Tulleners said.

CSU will be back in action on Saturday (Jan. 31) and Sunday (Feb. 1) when the Vikings travel to the Northwestern Duals.
