Cleveland State Fencing Teams Set to Kick Off Season at Drew Fall Invitational

Madison, NJ-The Cleveland State men's and women's fencing teams will start their respective seasons with a series of dual meets at the Drew University Fall Invitational hosted by the Rangers in Madison, New Jersey on Sunday.

This will mark part two of the fall invitational, with Drew hosting a second round of teams after hosting a round of dual meets last weekend, October 29, with a different crop of schools.

The men's field consists of six teams while the women's field consists of seven total teams. Cleveland State will square off in a series of dual meets in a round robin format against all the other participating schools.

The men's field will see CSU compete against host Drew first, along with Long Island University, Wagner College, Lafayette College and Yeshiva University. The women's team will also see the host Rangers first, in addition to LIU, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Wagner, Lafayette and Yeshiva.

This will be the first competition of the season for the Vikings. The men's roster features 14 competitors, led by a strong senior class of four: Travis Kroggel, Mason Moskowitz, Jesse Ndjeka and De'Mario Steele. This will also be the first competition for four freshmen: Simon Caisse, Matthew Seljan, Vaughn Smith and Sal Sorrentino.

The women's roster features eight student-athletes, led by seniors Gwen Nelson, Lily Robertson and Mira Semenets. The women have one newcomer, Rayllen Prafil Capaccio, who will fence epee.
