Cleveland State Fencing Opens at Vassar Invitational

The Cleveland State Men's and Women's Fencing teams will kick off the 2022-23 season at the Vassar Invitational tomorrow. The event will take place at Vassar College's Walker Fieldhouse located in Poughkeepsie, New York.

This is the only competition for the Vikings prior to the new year, when the team will host the CSU Duals on January 15th at Woodling Gymnasium.

Tomorrow's invitational will see the Vikings compete in eight rounds, with the men and the women both taking on eight different schools. Action begins at 10 a.m.

The men will start off against Hunter College in round 1, and then Long Island University in round 2. In round 3, the Vikings will face Sacred Heart, and then a matchup with Lafayette College in round 4 concludes the morning session. In the afternoon, round 5 will be against Stevens Institute of Technology, and round 6 against Johns Hopkins University. The day concludes with round 7 against Haverford College, and a matchup against host Vassar in the eighth and final round.

The women start with Sacred Heart in round 1, followed by Drew University in round 2. The third round will see the Vikings face off with Wellesley College, and CSU will take on Cornell in round 4 to close out the morning. In the afternoon, the Vikings will face Stevens Institute of Technology in round 5, and Johns Hopkins in round 6. The Cleveland State women close the day with Hunter College in round 7, and Wagner College in round 8.
