Vikings Head to Case Western Duals Saturday

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State University fencing team has its final competition of the calendar year this weekend before it takes time off for the semester break.

The Vikings will head to the Case Western Duals this Saturday, Nov. 16, with action set to get underway at 9:00 a.m.

Over the course of the day, Cleveland State will fence against Oakland (9:00 a.m.), Xavier (10:00 a.m.), the host Spartans (11:00 a.m.), CMU (12:30 p.m.), MSU (1:30 p.m.), Michigan (3:30 p.m.) and Bowling Green (4:30 p.m.).

In its last dual action, the Viking men and women both posted 6-0 records against the competition as the programs hosted the CSU Duals on the final weekend of October. The most notable result of the day may have been the CSU women's team's 17-10 victory over Michigan, the first win for the Viking women against Michigan in 15 years.

Cleveland State also hosted the 11th annual John Szent-Kiraly Open on the final weekend of October with numerous Vikings having successful showings. Freshman Paul DiVenti won the mixed foil title, redshirt sophomore Declan Forth won the mixed saber title and freshman Ilyssa Freiburger won the women's epee title.

Cleveland State will resume action after the New Year at the Detroit Mercy Invitational Jan. 12.
