CSU Competes at Vassar

The Vikings competed at Vassar today. The day was the most challenging meet to date. The Vikings men faced Yale, Vassar, Sacred Heart and New Jersey Institute of Technology. The men's team struggled going 0-5 on the day.

"The men's team had a rough day today. We faced teams that were stronger than us. We had a hard time staying focused and consistent during bouts we could have had wins."

The best results on the day were senior foilist Phelan Spence who was 8-7 and freshman saberist Matthew Gebbett who was also 8-7 on the day.

The women's team, faced Tufts in addition to Yale, Vassar, Sacred Heart and New Jersey Institute of Technology. The lady Vikings were 0-6 on the day.

 

"Our women's team today had some of their better fencing this season. Despite what the results show I was very pleased with how our women's team fenced and stayed focused. They really fenced to the best of their abilities"

Leading the women's team for a second day in a row was freshman foilist Sarah Mok. Mok had an impressive 14-4 on the day and improved to a 52-11 record for the season.

The Vikings host their annual John-Szent Kirally Memorial Open on January 24th.
