A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

MEN'S GOLF

  • The Vikings captured their fifth straight Horizon League Championship and ninth in the last 13 years last week at the Mission Inn Resort, bettering second place Oakland by 18 shots.
  • Junior Anton Krecic was the runner-up at the League tournament, while senior Blake Prince finished fifth as the duo was named to the all-tournament team.
  • Krecic was also voted to the All-Horizon League second team.
  • The NCAA regional selection show will air on the Golf Channel on Wednesday (May 2) at 6:00 pm.

WOMEN'S GOLF

  • CSU finished third at the Horizon League Championship last week. The Vikings were in sixth place after round one, moved up to fourth after day two before finishing third.
  • Freshman Madison Butler led the Vikings as she tied for sixth place.
  • Butler and junior Kaylee Neumeister were both named to the All-Horizon League second team.

MEN'S LACROSSE

  • The men's lacrosse team wrapped up its second season of competition with a 4-10 record, falling at Detroit Mercy on Saturday, 12-6.
  • The youthful squad featured 40 players with 39 in their freshman or sophomore seasons.
  • CSU finished with four Division I wins in its second season of existence, three more than it garnered in its inaugural season, and faced five teams currently in the top 20 of the national rankings in 2018, including two in the top five.
  • Freshman Michael Wilson led the team in goals (21), assists (14) and points (35).

SOFTBALL

  • CSU (15-29, 5-12 HL) closes the regular season with five games this week, starting with a doubleheader against UIC on Tuesday (May 1) at 12:00 pm at Viking Field. The Vikings will travel to Wright State this weekend for a three-game series.
  • The Vikings hosted Oakland and Northern Kentucky last week, winning the final game of the three game series against both teams.
  • CSU's five seniors - Kristin Catalano, Kait Gairing, Mackenzie Joecken, Aubrie Tone and Mel Woodard - were honored in a pre-game ceremony prior to Saturday's games vs. NKU.
  • Alicia Major earned the win in the circle against Oakland, working six innings and giving up just two runs on four hits.

MEN'S TENNIS

  • Cleveland State captured its sixth Horizon League Tournament title last weekend, picking up a 4-0 win over Youngstown State in the semifinals and a 4-2 victory over Detroit Mercy in the championship match.
  • The Vikings, who own the most #HLMTEN crowns out of all current league schools, earned their sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament over the last 11 seasons.
  • The NCAA Selection Show is set for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1 with a live stream available on NCAA.com.

WOMEN'S TENNIS

  • Cleveland State's season came to an end in the Horizon League Tournament semifinals last weekend, as the Vikings fell to eventual champion Youngstown State, 4-2 in the semifinals.
  • On the weekend, the Vikings were paced by the senior duo of Aleksandra Golawska and Jana Schober, with Golawska finishing her career ranked in the top-10 on the CSU Singles & Doubles Wins List.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

  • Following a six-meet outdoor season, the Vikings will compete at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships this weekend, with the three-day event taking place Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 6.
  • Last time out, Jessica Finley won the 5000 Meter Run at the Ashland Alumni Open, while Anna Brandt finished third in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase.

VIKINGS OF THE WEEK

Men's Golf & Men's Tennis | Horizon League Champions

The men's golf team captured its fifth straight Horizon League Championship on Tuesday, while the men's tennis team won the sixth title in program history and the first in five years on Sunday afternoon. Both teams earned the League's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament with the men's tennis selection show on Tuesday at 5:30 pm and the men's golf selection show on Wednesday at 6:00 pm.

Drove in six runs in CSU's games last week.

Anton Krecic | Jr. | Men's Golf
Was the runner-up at the Horizon League Championship after earning a spot on the all-league first team.

Won both of her matches at No. 4 singles at the Horizon League Championships.
