A LOOK AT WHAT'S HAPPENING

Cross Country
• The Vikings will compete in their first 6K of the season this weekend, participating in the Lock Haven Invitational on Saturday (Sept 23).
• CSU finished second as a team at the Friendship Invitational on Saturday and had three individuals place in the top-10 - Karen Barrientos (3rd), Anna Brandt (4th) and Jessica Finley (7th).

Fencing
• CSU opens its season by hosting the CSU Fall Open on Saturday (Sept. 23) at 9:00 am in Woodling Gym.

Men's Golf
• The Vikings are out of action until they host the CSU Invitational on Oct. 2-3 at Barrington CC in Aurora, Ohio.
• CSU competed in two events last week, finishing fourth of 15 at the Marshall Invitational and eighth of 16 teams at the EKU Intercollegiate.
• Junior Anton Krecic led the Vikings in both events, tying for fourth at Marshall and tying for 17th at EKU, while Nick Infanti tied for 10th place at Marshall.

Women's Golf
• CSU returns to action at the Cardinal Classic on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 18-19).
• The Vikings have been out of action since placing third of 10 teams at the YSU Invitational to open the season as freshman Madison Butler claimed medalist honors.

Men's Soccer
• CSU (2-4-1, 1-0-1 HL) heads to League preseason favorite Oakland on Saturday (Sept. 23) at 7:00 p.m.
• The Vikings suffered a 2-1 defeat at Xavier to begin last week with Vlad Jandric scoring his first-career goal in the setback and played to a 0-0 draw with Northern Kentucky on Saturday despite a 22-5 lead in shots.

Women's Soccer
• The Vikings (4-6, 0-1 HL) hosts Oakland on Saturday (Sept. 23) at 7:00 pm in the Horizon League home opener.
• CSU opened League play with a 1-0 setback in overtime at IUPUI on Friday night, despite outshooting the Jaguars, 20-11, including a shot that hit the crossbar in the 86th minute.

Men's Tennis
• CSU opened the fall season last weekend with a successful trip to the Purdue Fall Invitational.
• Freshman Matthew Terry captured the Singles Flight A title while Nico Mostardi and Luke Phillips claimed the Doubles Flight A title.
• The Vikings will compete next at the Louisville Invitational October 13 through October 15.

Women's Tennis
• The Vikings will begin their four-tournament fall season this weekend, making the short trip south for the Akron Invitational from Friday (Sept. 22) through Sunday (Sept. 24).
• Cleveland State returns four letterwinners from last season's Horizon League Regular Season champion squad, and have welcomed three newcomers for the 2017-18 season.

Volleyball
• Cleveland State (7-4) will begin its 16-match Horizon League slate this weekend, traveling to Milwaukee (Friday, September 22) and UIC (Saturday, September 23).
• Earlier this year, the Vikings were selected to repeat as Horizon League Champions, and entered the season as two-time defending regular season and tournament champions.
• Through non-league play, Alexis Middlebrooks has led the Viking offense with 3.19 kills/set on a .348 hitting percentage, while Gina Kilner has averaged 10.79 assists/set. The defense has been led by Shannon Grega (4.38 digs/set) and Mariah Carrero-Johnson (1.07 blocks/set).

VIKING OF THE WEEK

Matthew Terry| Freshman | Men's Tennis | Alpharetta, GA

Terry captured the "A" flight singles title at the Purdue Fall Invitational in his first collegiate event. Terry posted a perfect 4-0 mark, including a including a 6-4, 7-5 straight-set victory over Ball State's Nemanja Guzina in the championship. He also won one match on Friday and two on Saturday.

Karen Barrientos | Sr. | Cross Country
Placed third at the Friendship Invitational in 18:45, to help team to runner-up finish.

Vlad Jandric | So. | Men's Soccer
Netted his first career goal in Tuesday's 2-1 setback at Xavier.

Sara Skeens | So. | Volleyball
Averaged 4.33 kills/set to earn spot on Panther Challenge All-Tournament team.
