As a team, the Vikings finished 14th out of 41 teams – and seventh out of nine Division I teams. With such a large field, the women's 6K was split into two different races – the collegiate race and the open race – with over 275 runners competing in the collegiate race and over 200 running in the open race.

"Although the conditions were not ideal today, everyone ran really well and battled through the weather," head coach Joe Jaketic said. "I'm proud of how they ran and how they continue to strive to get better every week. They are all happy with their performances today, but they also know that they still have room for improvement. We will get back to training next week, and hopefully have a strong week of practice leading up to next weekend's race."

For the fifth time this season, Karen Barrientos paced the Vikings in the collegiate race, as she finished 27th overall with a 6K time of 22:39. Barrientos' time was just shy of her career-best mark that she set last weekend at the LHU Invitational, and ranks fifth on the CSU Top Performances list.

Ashlyn Woods was the next Viking to cross the finish line Friday afternoon, as she recorded a time of 23:10 to finish 53rd overall. Woods' time also earned a spot in the top-15 on the CSU Top Performances list, as it ranks as the 12th fastest 6K time under Jaketic.

Finishing third and fourth, respectively, for the Vikings were Samantha Butterbaugh (92nd – 23:49) and Olivia Hammons (116th – 24:15), while Jessica Finley crossed the finish line in 24:37 as the fifth Viking to cross the line.

Alanna Shamrock was close behind, as she finished in a time of 24:42, and Emily Marshall rounded out the Cleveland State runners in the collegiate race with a 26:00 6K performance.

Running in the open race for the Vikings were Anna Beasley (27:45), Andrea Wardeiner (28:50), and Bridget Smik (28:56).

Cleveland State will return to action next Saturday (October 8), traveling south for the Disney Cross Country Classic. The women's 5K race is slated for an 8:20 a.m. start at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
