
CLEVELAND, OH - The Vikings hosted Bloomsburg in their final home dual of the 2014-15 season. The Vikings went on to shutout the Huskies 41-0 and improve their EWL record to 4-2. Cleveland State is tied for second place in the EWL.
Before the match, seniors Ben Willeford and Matt Donohoe were recognized in their final home meet as Vikings. Each had a outstanding careers with Cleveland State.
EWL Wrester of the Week Alfredo Gray started off the Vikings to a good start with a 5-2 decision and a 3-0 lead. Mike Carlone followed with an 8-4 decision to extend CSU's lead, 6-0. At 149, Nick Montgomery defeated Kevin Laubach in a 6-1 decision to continue the Vikings shutout, 9-0. LaTrell Davis won his match in a 5-2 decision over Matt Hammerstone. Senior Matt Donohoe won his final match of his career as a Viking in a 9-3 decision. Gabe Stark pinned Auston Hummel just 1:45 into the match to give the Vikings a 21-0 lead. Xavier Dye won by technical fall after the first two minutes of the match, 16-1. That gave the Vikings a 26-0 lead. Nick Corba continued the streak with another win by decision, 8-3. At heavyweight, #15 Riley Shaw pinned Dominic Carfagno 27 seconds into the match. #15 Ben Willeford finished off the Huskies by pinning Jon Haas (4:40) in his final home match as a Viking.
The Vikings will be back in action when they visit Gardner Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C. They will also wrestle Ohio University. Wrestling will begin at 11 a.m.
