FAIRBORN, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's tennis team won their Horizon League opener, defeating Wright State, 5-2, on Saturday morning. The win improves the team to 12-4 overall and 1-0 in the Horizon League.

The men won at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to claim the doubles point and won four of six singles matches. Sophomore Phil Orno won a long three-set match, winning 7-6 (5), 6-7(5), 10-7 over Tony Teufel at No. 1 singles. Orno has won 12 consecutive singles matches. Senior Brad Groleski defeated Pip Rehg, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Junior Rob West won 6-2, 6-1 over Jan Alafriz, while freshman Robert Fox defeated Brett Stewart 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

"The doubles matches were a lot closer than anticipated today," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We did pick up a much needed doubles point, knowing it would be important to do so. Phil had a long match but found a way to win and keep his streak going."
