Cleveland State Volleyball Set For Matches At Northern Kentucky & Wright State

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State volleyball team will look to continue its winning ways on the road this weekend, traveling to Northern Kentucky for a 6:00 p.m. match on Friday, October 21 and Wright State for a 2:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, October 22. 

Last Time Out…
Cleveland State picked up a 3-0 victory against Robert Morris earlier this week, notching the season sweep against the Colonials. The Vikings enter this weekend on a mini two-match winstreak, also picking up a 3-1 victory against IUPUI last weekend.  

Klaer With The Double-Double
Freshman setter Karly Klaer has tallied double-doubles in the last four matches, and has 11 on the season. Last time out, Klaer finished with 33 assists and 10 digs, while also adding five kills and two blocks. For the season, Klaer is averaging 7.96 assists per set to rank fourth among #HLVB players.  

Viking Block Party
Entering the weekend, Cleveland State leads the league with 205.0 total blocks on the year, averaging 2.41 blocks per set. Through 21 matches played, the Vikings have tallied 10+ total blocks 10 times, including a season-high 18.0 blocks against Akron. Individually, Lydia Latimer has recorded a team-best 86 blocks on the year, while Madison Olinger has notched 79. Latimer currently ranks second in the league averaging 1.21 blocks per set, while Olinger ranks sixth with 1.04. 

Voss Leading The Viking Offense
Freshman outside hitter Laken Voss has been Cleveland State's top offensive threat this season, entering the weekend with 268 kills and ranking fourth among league players averaging 3.44 kills per set. Voss has finished with double-digit kills in 17 of 20 matches played so far this season, including a trio of 20-kill performances against Xavier (23 kills), Akron (24) and IUPUI (20).  

DeGeorge From The Service Line
Sarah DeGeorge enters the weekend with a team-best 32 service aces on the year, ranking third among #HLVB players averaging 0.41 aces per set. DeGeorge has notched at least one ace in 15 matches so far this season, including a season-high six against Morgan State and five against Oakland and IUPUI. As a team, Cleveland State has recorded 123 total aces on the year, with 19 also coming from Audrey McConihe and Emma Walker

The Cleveland State Defense
Entering the weekend, Cleveland State has five players that are averaging 2.25 digs per set or more on the year, led by Audrey McConihe who is averaging 3.60 digs per set. Along with McConihe, Emma Walker has been a large part of the Viking backrow averaging 2.61 digs per set, while Sarah DeGeorge is averaging 2.27 digs per set. McConihe's 306 total digs on the year ranks her seventh among #HLVB players.

The Vikings will stay on the road next week, traveling to Oakland on Saturday, October 29 for their lone match of the weekend.
