QUICK SETS
The Cleveland State volleyball team will return home for the first time in Horizon League play this weekend, hosting Wright State on Friday, September 23 and Northern Kentucky on Saturday, September 24. The Vikings enter the weekend standing at 4-8 overall and 1-0 in #HLVB play after picking up back-to-back five-set victories in their last two matches.

LAST TIME OUT…
Cleveland State picked up a 3-2 victory at Youngstown State in its #HLVB opener, marking the third straight year that the Vikings have been victorious in the first match of their league slate. Under head coach Chuck Voss the Vikings are now 14-8 in Horizon League openers.

McCONIHE TRACKING DOWN 1,000 DIGS
After posting her fifth 20-dig match of the season with 26 digs at YSU last time out, senior Audrey McConihe is just two digs shy of notching 1,000 for her career, entering the weekend with 998 total digs. After the first four weeks of the 2022 campaign, McConihe ranks sixth among #HLVB players averaging 4.17 digs per set, and would become the 21st Viking all-time to join the 1,000-dig club.

VIKING BLOCK PARTY
Entering Friday's match against Wright State the Vikings have posted 10.0+ team blocks in five straight matches, including 11.0 against the Penguins in the #HLVB opener earlier this week. Cleveland State currently ranks third in the league standings averaging 2.37 blocks per set, combining for 123.0 total blocks on the year. Individually, Madison Olinger leads the Vikings with 45 blocks on the year, while Lydia Latimer has posted 45 to rank second among league players averaging 1.18 blocks per set.

VOSS LEADING THE VIKING OFFENSE
After notching a team-best 13 kills against Youngstown State last time out, freshman Laken Voss continues to lead the Viking offense, entering the weekend with a team-high 145 total kills on the year. Voss, who ranks fourth among #HLVB players averaging 3.22 kills per set, has tallied double-digit kills in nine matches so far this season, including a season-best 24 kills at Akron earlier this year.

KLAER WITH THE ASSIST
Over the last nine matches freshman Karly Klaer has moved into the primary setter role for the Vikings due to injuries, averaging 7.13 assists per set to rank fourth among #HLVB players. Through nine matches, Klaer has posted five double-doubles, including a season-best 41 assists and 13 digs against the Penguins last time out. In addition, Klaer is also averaging 1.13 kills per set and has combined for 22 total blocks.

CLEVELAND STATE FROM THE SERVICE LINE
Last time out, the Vikings combined for seven service aces at YSU, marking the ninth match this season with 5+ aces. For the year, Cleveland State is averaging 1.40 service aces per set, paced by Sarah DeGeorge who has tallied 15 aces on the year. In addition, Laken Voss has recorded 13 aces, while Emma Walker has tallied 11 and Audrey McConihe has chipped in 10.

HEAD COACH CHUCK VOSS
Chuck Voss is in his 23rd season at the helm of the Vikings, and owns a 383-270 (.586) overall record at Cleveland State. Under Voss the Vikings have recorded 17 winning seasons, including a streak of 10 straight from 2009 to 2018. Cleveland State has eclipsed the 20-win mark eight times since Voss took over the program, and has captured Horizon League Tournament titles five times (2007, 2012, 2015, 2016 & 2017) under his guidance. During the 2016 season Voss became the all-time winningest coach in program history, and then later became the only active Horizon League coach to reach the 350-win mark at their current school.
